As a professional musician, singer, songwriter, recording artist, and traveling music minister for over a decade, I've got lots of real-world music experience to share with my students. I love teaching and passing on the knowledge I've gained to others -- I feel like it's a great way to "give back" some of what God has blessed me with.
I offer music lessons out of my Western Branch area home (in the Burbage Grant neighborhood). I've been teaching for over 8 years now -- three years at Bethel School of the Arts in Hampton, VA, and more than five years on my own.
I currently offer music lessons in the following areas:
I enjoy teaching all ages, from children through adults. For adults, it's never too late to learn a new instrument or skill! For children, the recommended starting age depends on the area of study and the child, but from my experience, generally around 6 or 7 is a good time to begin Piano lessons, and around 9 or 10 seems best for beginning Voice lessons. Songwriting is a case-by-case basis -- generally tweens and up.
Studies have shown that learning music helps kids do better in math and science, as well as in overall academic studies, while also fostering good discipline, perseverance, and self-confidence!
If you're interested in starting lessons, please fill out the information on the registration page, and I'll be in contact with you very soon! I do currently have a waiting list, but depending on your availability and my availability, sometimes the wait isn't too long.
Grace and peace to you!
